A little work here and a little work there! Renovation is the name of the game here at Tolvsbo these past few months.
We started renovating the Drängstugan in January. We’ve redone and painted the walls and laid new floors… We enjoy doing it—Reinder handles the woodwork and heavy lifting, while I take care of the painting, tidying up, and cleaning. And now it’s ready to be rented out, and we’ve already welcomed our first guests!
In February, we moved on to the toilets and showers. We want to do it right the first time, so it’s quite a job. We completely gutted the rooms where the toilets used to be—from the ceiling and walls down to the entire floor. But we also gutted the rooms behind them, including an office and the old bar from back when it was a dance hall!! Now there’s a large open space there, that we’re rebuilding. New plumbing has been installed, and the floor has been redone with proper insulation. The new wooden ceiling is already in place, and the first new walls are up. There will be 4 toilets, sinks, 4 showers, and accessible facilities. We’re looking forward to the final result, but in the meantime, we’re powering through! 🙂 🙂
Besides the renovation, we’re not sitting still. We’ve planned to open our doors for a bit over Easter—we’ll have a little fika, some activities for the kids, and VintageButiken Fina Gamla Saker will be open! And of course, you can sneak a peek at what it looks like here right now.
Tolvsbo Värdshus was primarily a restaurant, but our vision is a bit broader… We dream of our future campsite, where people can camp in their own camper or in our glamping tents. Where a family can spend a week’s vacation in our large vacation home, a place where you can grab a SUP board and head out onto the lake, have a fika in our café, or where a newlywed couple can celebrate their wedding! And of course, we’ll be hosting the Julbord every year.
We can handle quite a bit on our own, but cooking isn’t our strongest suit. Roswitha still helps us out now and then, but that won’t always be possible. So here’s a little call for help: if you’re an entrepreneur and a chef, we’d love to meet you!
